Ian Wieland-Program Coordinator
Ian was born and raised in Madera, California where he was first exposed to politics by being elected Student Body President of Madera High School during his senior year. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Fresno in 2007 with degrees in Political Science and History. While in college, Ian was a member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College, served as a Maddy Scholar Intern in Assemblymember Juan Arambula’s Sacramento Office (2005), and as a Costa Scholar Intern in Congressman Jim Costa’s Washington DC Office (2006). After his summer in Washington DC in 2006, Ian was hired to work in Congressman Costa’s District Office. After graduation, Ian spent two and a half years working in Sacramento in the Democratic Caucus under California State Assembly Speakers Fabian Nunez and Karen Bass. Ian has been the Program Coordinator at the Maddy Institute since July 2010 and is currently a second year law student at San Joaquin College of Law.
