March 24, 2006: Public Forum on “Community Collaboration”

Responding to the unique challenges resulting from the tremendous change occurring in our region, this unique half-day workshop on enhancing collaboration between the governmental, business, civic and non-profit organizations in our region. The workshop, underwritten by the Cal Dooley Leadership Fund, attracted over 52 political and civic leaders.

The workshop was led by Donna Zajonc, a three-time legislator from the State of Oregon, a past President of the National Franchise Advisory Board, a political leadership coach and the recent author of “The Politics of Hope.” Among the topics Ms. Zajonc discussed are:

  • Evolving from Heroic to Collaborative Leadership
  • The Four Stages of Political Evolution
  • The Four Faces of Public Discourse
  • The Emergence of the MetaCitizen
  • Collective Leadership for Civic Engagement

The workshop provided governmental and civic leaders with new insights and new tools to increase the capacity and tap the power of collaboration in their communities for a new era of civic engagement.
