Air Quality Action Plan Goals
The Partnership Air Quality action plan is focused on the achievement of three overarching goals:
- Achieve EPA mandated standards for 8-hour ozone and PM 2.5 by the current attainment date or as soon as practicable thereafter.
- Establish the San Joaquin valley as a nationally recognized leader in air quality management by achieving the dual goals of healthful air quality and a prosperous economy.
- Engage public support through effective communications of a comprehensive "clean air strategy", regular monitoring and reporting of performance s. plan, and clearer accountability for compliance.
The plan lists eight recommendations and 29 objectives in support of the achievement of these goals.
As the Air Quality Work Group’s consultant/staff, the Maddy Institute: (1) schedules meetings, (2) ensures participation among key stakeholders, (3) works with the Work Group members to establish the meeting agendas, (4) arranges the logistics for the meetings, (5) serves as the communication clearinghouse for all matters related to the Work Group’s efforts, (6) keeps notes and track progress between meetings, and (7) provides updates to the Secretariat and Partnership board, as requested.
In sum, the Partnership’s Air Quality Work Group, with consulting and staffing support from the Maddy Institute, has the responsibility for providing the oversight, input and catalyzing actions needed for the successful implementation of the Partnership’s Air Quality Action Plan.
Support for our work for the California Partnership’s Air Quality Work Group is provided by the State of California, the John and Bertha Garabedian Foundation and California State University, Fresno.
